Drug and Property Crimes in Illinois

Fighting Charges Against Drug and Property Crimes

If you were arrested for drug possession or crimes against property, it is important to work with a trial lawyer who is familiar with the local court system, and has worked with the judges and the prosecutors in the area. At Sullivan & VonBokel, P.C., we have over 30 years of combined experience defending clients throughout Madison County, St. Clair County, and surrounding communities in Illinois.

Being in the courts on a daily basis, we know what to expect and we know how to build a strong defense to protect your rights.

Drug Possession Cases

Individuals who are convicted for drug possession or other drug charges in St. Clair or Madison Counties will have their records tarnished. When clients contact our firm, we help them determine if there is sufficient evidence to support the charges they are facing.

If there is sufficient evidence to support the charge, we work for our clients in an effort to obtain first offender status, which usually allows for probation. We have been doing this work long enough that we can typically make an informed guess whether you can get probation. Whether your charges are related to methamphetamines, cannabis, cocaine or other drugs, we can help you.

When repeat offenders contact us, we are usually able to accurately determine whether it will be possible for them to avoid jail time. Our clients benefit from working with lawyers with over 30 years of combined experience. The reason: we know how to handle cases in the criminal justice system.

Property Crimes

Theft, burglary, residential burglary and forging checks are all examples of property crimes. When we work with clients, we obtain and review a copy of the police report. We make sure what the police officer wrote is similar to what our clients remember. We also get information from the state attorney to make sure we understand the state's point of view.

We work with our clients to help them negotiate a better deal. If our clients have the option of accepting the offer on the table or going to trial, we help our clients understand the risks and possible benefits of trying the case. If our client will likely be worse off going to trial, we never encourage it.
